Raven cursed in elvish and released her arrow, swiftly sending a second after the first

Even in the dark, the elf's first arrow found its target. The bandit had no time to consider his next move before the arrow slammed into his abdomen, causing him to fall to his knees in pain. As he fell, the second arrow sailed over his head, striking the cave wall near Linden.

Linden jumped as the arrow clattered to the ground after striking the wall near him. It brought him out of the trance he had been stuck in since the moment the bandit held the knife to Pike. Without even a chance to speak to his friend, he was gone. So quickly, just like that. He suddenly felt empty inside. As the days events began to catch up with him, he staggered over to the wall... suddenly very dizzy. The moment his hands struck the cold surface he keeled over onto his knees and puked all over the floor...

The bandit on his knees, arrow protruding from his stomach, let himself sink back to the until his back found the wall. One hand grasped the arrow shaft while the other still grasped the knife that had slit Pike's throat. Someone was not far away from him, losing his dinner, but the bandit could not see if it was friend or foe. Though he doubted one of his hardened brothers would be puking over the brutal death of a caravan guard. Slowly, deliberately, he half crawled, half dragged himself toward Linden, intending for the man to meet the same fate as Pike.

Linden was doubled over against the wall, his read resting on the cold stone. Clearly in some major discomfort, and in the dark, the guard didn't see the bandit crawling towards him. Without a light stone, or a torch, it was virtually impossible to see anything in the cave.

From his vantage point on the other side of the tunnel entrance, Mavis was looking into and towards what little light there was offered by the tunnel on the far side. Due to this, he was able to see the silhouettes of most of the people in the tunnel, including the bandit who was slinking towards Linden. Expecting the guard to hear the bandit, Mavis initially stayed put. He had every bit of faith in Linden's ability to kick butt. When his friend didn't move, however, Mavis became alarmed that maybe Linden did not hear the bandit, and was not going to move.

He tightened his grip around the sword, partially to make sure it was still there and that he wasn't dreaming. When the handle of the sword felt firm in his grasp, he started to make his way slowly and cautiously across the mouth of the tunnel. His footsteps were small and quiet, which was partially a counter-measure, and also because his battered body simply couldn't manage anything faster. In about six or seven feet, the bandit would either kill Linden and Mavis... or Mavis was going to do something about it.

Raven held her position, another arrow notched. She heard light footsteps and decided to wait before firing.

The bandit drew close to Linden and, so focused on his immediate mission, seemed not to notice Mavis approaching quietly from the other side. He rose to his feet, hunched forward to avoid jostling the arrow too much, and raised his knife, only a few seconds away from plunging it into Linden's back.

The closer Mavis got to the bandit, the harder it became for him to see his target because the bandit was no longer silhouetted against the tunnel lights. He tried as best he could to maintain an accurate idea of the bandits position by hearing and sight, but he wasn't 100% sure that he had it completely right. Nevertheless, he knew he had one shot at saving Linden's life. And so after uttering a silent prayer, he brought Terrick's sword back, and then drove it forward with all of his strength towards where he thought the bandit was.

At the moment Mavis lunged forward, the bandit finally noticed that the boy was so close, and he tried to turn away from the blade, but he was too slow. The sharp sword tore into the man's unarmored gut and the knife fell from his grasp, clattering loudly on the cave floor a moment before the bandit dropped, sword and arrow protruding from his mid-section, blood pooling on the floor around him.

Raven released a sigh and came back to the group, lighting her stone so they all could see. She paused by Pike and knelt down beside him, speaking quietly in elvish over him. She glanced up to the others once the blessing was spoken with a determination to get them all out of these cursed tunnels.

Terrick saw the light suddenly illuminate the tunnel ahead and allowed himself to breath a sign of relief as he could see Raven, Linden, Mavis, and Maple. He didn't see Pike, but as the tunnel curved just past where the others were standing, he didn't immediately see it as cause for concern. "Any of those thugs carrying a bandage, by chance?" he asked, shaking his head slightly in an effort to clear it, fighting the effects of blood loss.
