Cardboard brooder box just caught fire !!!

I should go take pics of my safe rubermaid brooder that I have set up now but I am busy with school so maybe tomorrow.

Best make your brooders of plywood and don't use red lights. They put off too much heat. Try a 100 watt bulb and be sure you keep it from anything touching. If your chicks huddle together get a bigger bulb. Use sand in the bottom and clean it with window-screen.If you are going to raise chicks, best buy a brooder made of metal from a feedstore or online store. Safer for the chicks AND you. Be safe.

Wow!!! Thank you for sharing this. I've used cardboard in the house before and that could have been in my house! Wow, never again will I use cardboard. Plastic only. Thanks again. I'm so glad you went out to check for eggs. It could have been horrible if you hadn't. You saved your babies and your barn!
