Best make your brooders of plywood and don't use red lights. They put off too much heat. Try a 100 watt bulb and be sure you keep it from anything touching. If your chicks huddle together get a bigger bulb. Use sand in the bottom and clean it with window-screen.If you are going to raise chicks, best buy a brooder made of metal from a feedstore or online store. Safer for the chicks AND you. Be safe.
