My chicken lost one of her eyes recently (yesterday) and the other is in a pretty bad situation so she is blind in both eyes . An eye doctor gave us an eye drop to prevent infection and she isn't doing much she just turned around a little and maybe walked forward 8-10 steps I could get her to eat just a little and then she spiller her food. Even though I put her food right in front of her she couldn't find it and she isn't drinking either. We are thinking to tube feed her if the vet says she could do it . I can't put her down so please help. Any advices for how to care for a blind chicken
and was looking for advice. He is really small for his age mostlikely from not getting as much food and water when little and I didn't realize he was blind yet. He's another I should have put down but I have trouble putting down a critter that is still fighting for life and not in pain. Anyway he also likes small familliar space other birds around him freaks him out and he is a target among chickens and roo's his own age because of that. I'm not sure if he is absolutely toatally blind I think he does get some light and maybe colors my idea is to keep his food and water on the bright end of his apartment and to make the feeder and waterer very brightly colored. Not sure if the colors will help but they won't hurt. He is such a sweetheart and a cuddle bug I want him to be as comfy as I can make him. Maybe when he matures he will get more brave and can atleast give him a flatmate. As he seems to both crave a flock and get freaked out by jostling. Poor guy I gotta quit getting attached to all these runts and handicapped I don't have space for all the individual living spaces.
