careers inbetween chicken life?

I'm a stay at home mom of a cutie-pie two year old. Love staying home and love that we are fortunate enough that DH has a career that allows me to raise our daughter. My DH is software engineer for a large financial group.

The only problem with a computer programmer husband is everyone wants him to fix their computers, well that's not what he does! He writes codes, (codes that kick html butt) he doesn't fix windows after people forget to update their virus protection and firewalls....heck I know more about windows then he does!

I am a stay at home mome. I have been for the last year. Before that I was the Manager of a Branch office for an accounting firm. I did everything from the cleaning to tax entry and everything in between. I chose to stay at home with my kids after my daughter was born. I have 2 kids. My son is 3 and my daughter is 1. We have 3 adult hens, 1 adult roo, 14 chicks that are 3 weeks old today, a dog and a cat. My husband works for a company called Mattracks. He has been there for 5 years. They make track conversion systems for atv's, trucks, tractors, and specialty vechiles like ambulances.

I'm at school doing GCSEs in English Lit & Lang, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, German, History, Geography and Art.

On Saturday mornings I work at the city farm as a general dogsbody . . . mucking out, mixing feed, feeding, collecting eggs etc. with perks, like chicks, ducklings, lambs and piglets

Apart from that I look after my chickens and grow a lot of fruit, veg, and herbs.

I live with my dad (mum moved out 11 years ago, but I still see her) . . . he's a techie who needs convincing about everything that has anything to do with farming . . . like that a compost heap surrounded by pallets and including compost would be far better than what we have now - a heap with mainly grass, chicken poo and woodshavings, with occasionally with some leaves . . .

Wow. I know I already posted here, but I just went through and read all the new posts, and I see a deffinate trend! Seems the majority of us (at least those who've posted thus far) have at least one 'stay at home' person, wether its the man or the woman.

I never really would have guessed that, but it makes soooo much sence! Farming, even small scale, is a 24 hour job and really needs someone almost always there. Huh...who'da thunk it? Thanks to the OP for this thread, because I never would have known! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one!

You can really feel like you're the only stay at home parent around though. Most of my family and friends are career freaks. They only see their kids a few hours a day and that's okay with them. My SIL could stay home with her son but she chooses not to. She said she really needs the break! And I actually wondered why this child was so wild. Believe it or not she thinks she needs another baby because she is afraid she may get too old too quickly and then not be able to have anymore. I always thought people had babies to bring a new life into the world. Not to try to put it in their life schedule!

I am a fairly new LPN,that is staying at home right now.My DH works in a local factory and hates it.I soon maybe working though if he decides to get fired.I have two beautiful red-head girls. One soon to be 10 years old and a five year old.My youngest was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and is currently going thru treatments. My animals are my therapy,I have chickens, ducks, guineas, dogs and cats.

I am a registered nurse at Memorial hospital in worcester MA. I like being a nurse but would rather be home all the time with my kids, hubby and all the animals. Hubby owns Blackstone Valley Piano and its growing so the plan is hopefully to get me working as secretary and stay home. Do nursing maybe 3-4 days a month.that is fine by me! hopefuuly sooner than later.
I would like to be in my gardens 24/7.

Cheif cook and bottle washer checking in. Although we've traded the bottles with nipples for bottles with gatorade. We're still playing Little League in 115*F.

I'm the deputy clerk in a small city. I live about 1 mile away from work, so I can run home to check on my chickies when the weather is bad/hot/cold.
My DH works 14 hrs a day, 6 days a week, and when he's home on Sunday that's when we get big projects worked on. The chickies are sure worth the work-I just love the little buggers!
