CAROLINA CHICKENSTOCK FALL 2012

I think next year we should have backyard chicken name tags with our screen names.

Also I had so much fun.
There were several of us with name tags on and it said BYC thanks to Robert! You couldn't miss him and his lovely wife, Kris! They had the big van with the Dobermans on the side in beautiful living color!
Thank you Robert for bringing the name tags so we could write our names on them and taking them up to the raffle tables for others to use.
Of course, no one could miss me as I wore my farm shirt but I did put on a name tag, too.

We had an amazing time yesterday, and enjoyed being able to put faces with BYC names! Unfortunately on our way home we were in a wreck...nothing major but we were already exhausted and just wanted to get home!

Amy (Westknollfarm) I am just in love with the gorgeous, gorgeous babies, thanks again for everything and it was so great to finally meet you!!!

, this little wheaten cutie we got from you is a real sweetheart! He sat up on my shoulder for the longest time yesterday evening falling asleep in my arms or playing with my hair! I just love him so much already!!

Amylou we had fun in the end there...I wish you had won something though! Good luck building up your flock. Hang around me too long and I'll have chickens coming out your ears! lol

I know I met many, many other wonderful new friends but now I can't remember their names. :confused:g

Thanks again Tricia for putting on this amazing show and to Amy (Twilight) for helping in the background!

Yes, those are great! I know my plastic ones leak and some of the shavings got wet but the birds got a drink for the few hours that we were there. They were glad to get home and back into their big grassy pens.
I did not take very many to offer for sale as I figured most would not be buying. However, quite a few folks kept going back beside my truck wanting to know about the ones that were pre-sold! LOL It was funny because they were not out on display but caught people's eye.

Sure! No problem! The hubby and I loved the little wagon, too. What neat idea!

Awww, thank you! I just appreciate everyone being so friendly and helpful. You don't find that a lot anymore! I'm hoping to make it to Morganton so hopefully I will see ya'll there too!

I wish I had gone to the top of the drive at the entrance and taken a shot down but it looks like one was taken so that is wonderful.
I didn't get to walk around as much since I was staying as close to my crew as possible. But when I did have to leave I had awesome friends to watch things for me. Thanks to all my peeps....Kimberly, Nicole, Nikki, Mary, Kris and Robert, Yancy, Samantha, Patsy, John and Matthew. Jackie and baby Witt showed up to enjoy the fun, too! SC was well represented in our little corner. I know there were others like Walt and his lovely wife and Jen and her sweet family and probably many others that I didn't get to see.

Witt was a hit in his John Deere outfit!

We got there early. MOF, there was only one truck in front of us waiting at the gate at 6:30 when our little convoy got there.

Can you find yourself or friends in any of these photos?

Sorry I missed further down in the field along the tree line and up on the hill but I believe others took great photos and have shared, as well.

Can't wait for spring! See you all there!

I see me too! I look like I am stalking Sam's table because that is pretty much where I am in each of the pictures! I wish you guys had picked the spots up under the trees but then I am wimpy when it comes to the heat! lol! You definitely had prime thoroughfare spots!! It really was just so much fun!! I will be having chicken withdrawal until the next swap!!! Well I mean I will be plenty busy with all my chickens and now I need a new coop for all my silkies(even thinking about a bachelor coop for all my boys) but still it is fun to see all the different kinds of chickens!

BTW I forgot to mention to y'all what happened after just about everyone was gone. While we were still trying to figure out where everyone was going in the jeep, we had a 'couple' holding hands walk up. Come up from the wedding party that were looking at our Silkies...oh how much she was in love...just had to have them...please she begged this obviously much, much, MUCH younger man who appeared to be maybe 21!!. The young man kept saying no I don't think so, lets think about it...we are here for a wedding etc. This went on for at least a good 20 minutes...she (who appeared to be at least old enough for AARP) just would not stop asking....then she says well what about mama...we can get some for her...you know she would love them...then she asks me, do you think they would be fine for about 3 or 4 hours in the trunk while we are at the wedding?!?!?! Now mind you, I really try to be kind to everyone...but there are times when apparently my family says I show facial expressions and I don't know it. Apparently this was one of those times...the young man spoke up and says no baby I don't think she wants her chickens put in a hot trunk. I just couldn't take it anymore with these ridiculous questions, I was hot and tired...and no way in hell were my babies going to be put in a trunk...are you kidding me?!?! I realized at this point this woman can't be for real...am I on candid camera somewhere...is this a joke?! But this woman was just as serious as a heart attack!

I finally had, had enough! I said here let me give you one of our cards and when you all get setup with a coop and such and talk it over with 'mama' then you guys give us a call! The young man seemed relieved by this as well, you could tell he was getting just as frustrated as I was with her. He was pulling her by the hand...come on baby, he says. But she keep turning around with a pouty face looking at the chickens. We went on with our business and they finally disappeared.

Oh my gosh...seriously though....3-4 hours in a hot trunk!!!!!!! No water, no feed...are you kidding me?!?! Have y'all experienced anything like this? This was our first time going to sell...so I just can't imagine this being a common question but maybe it is? I don't know....but I treat everyone of our chickens (regardless of how ornery they can be ;) ) exactly the same! They are a part of our family...not 'just chickens', and honestly yes my prices might be a bit high for my babies, but if they are as special to you as they are to me then the customer will pay it!

OK, now I'm jumping off my soap box. LOL I need to get things done around here. But I am curious to know if any of you have experienced anything like this? I swear I thought it was a dream. :lau Anyway, I just thought I would share this little story with y'all this morning.

Have a great day everyone!!!
:hugs
