I use that exact trap too & they work phenomenally well. I didn't bait it with anything, I just hung it where they eat my coop & pretty quickly I had one in there - then 6 & then 10. LOL They no longer eat my coop.

I got some on clearance at Walmart a few years back. If you're handy, they can be built without too much effort.

I have this same one on the barn. It works great. I'm planning on adding a few more because the one gets full so quickly.

What attracts them to this gadget?

It's just the hole itself. They go in and fall into the collection tube/cup. You leave them there until they are too weak to fly away and pull the string and dump them on the ground in the chicken pen for the birds to eat them up. lol

My husband made 2 of these from scrap lumber 6-7 years ago and a mason jar and ring. He put it on a pole so we can move it around as needed.
