Depends on your taste. I like it, but some people (*coughcough*THT*coughcough*) don't.
I'd say take a taste of it if you can -- homemade, if possible.

I dont' like anything store bought. Since butter is a neutral flavor, the sugar is the only flavor that comes out. Making Buttercream way to sweet for me! I don't like any frosting that isn't homemade though! Lol!

You've obviously never had proper buttercream. I always frost with stabilized, sweetened whip cream.
I like both but I'm the only one in my family who like cream cheese so I always make butter cream or whip cream.

I love carrot cake and always have, preferably with cream cheese frosting, heavy on the cream cheese. If I wasn't odd enough as a child, my mother bringing in homemade carrot cake on my birthdays (back when we could do such things) sealed my fate.
