Casa Grande Arizona

Hello!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.

Checked zoning GR General rural omg chicken addict overdose. No limits and no rules on coop or run... Specifically it is not a building and does not require setbacks or other code compliance. Lol now knowing that I should not give the board of supervisors a reason to convene and make a rule because of me....

Ok brooder 4' x 4' is 16 sq ft therefore 16 chicks

coop plans 10' x 12' 120 sq ft /4 = 30 birds and run 25' x 12' = 300 sq ft /10 = 30 birds
choice of chicks hmmmm.... feed stores have some good choices. BSL, RIR, Orps, Wellsummer, Wyndotte, Leghorn ,Barred Rock... assorted Bantams.... ok coop might be divided in 3 parts... pictures will follow.. recycled materials and new wire

I have a source for free pallets and lots of old wood that was attracting scorpions and centipedes.

ventilation is going to be tricky and now is the time to consider how I intend to design that. Incorporating ideas from my grandfathers coop in Pennsylvania... on a smaller scale

( that coop had chickens til 1965) the guy before delivered eggs and moonshine

The still was in the barn under the loft. most interesting design. and well hidden.

Misters, shade, lots of water and a breeze are primary in my thoughts.

Went and bought 19 chicks instead of 16. Lol addition. 3 cuckoo maran 3 asset bantams. 3 lorps I think (Marked barred rock but I don't think so) 3 RIR 3 black sex links lol I know they are hens at least. One odd silver. 3 leghorns but look suspiciously like golden sex links. Lol baptized their beaks and watched them run around.
