Laura, just thought I would let you know, Jonnie and Amanda are both setting on eggs!

I even put an americauna egg (I bought 3 at the swap last month, only 1 developed

) When Amanda started getting broodie, I put the egg in the cage with her. She took it immediately and started sitting on it.

It has started pipping this evening!! You can 'hear' the little chick peeping! It is so exciting! She has two more (her and Angus's) I have tried to get to them, (for candling), but she won't let me near them. Jonnie has 3 eggs also. She had one last month that had started to pip, but I don't know what happened. I found it the next day, and the chick had died. She (Jonnie) would let me 'see' the eggs, it is Frankie that won't let me! He runs to the door when I open it and hollers and 'pecks' at me! He is very protective!
I also bought a young silkie at the swap. She is so tiny! I have her in a cage, not far from the 4 roos that I hatched a couple of months ago from your eggs. One of the young guys is smitten with the cute little silkie!! He just sings to it and dances around. It is so funny! If I don't get any females this next hatch, I might just put them two together!

I have a big silkie roo, that has fallen in love with the polish hen I picked up at the swap! (a polish silkie! Wouldn't that be a funny chick!
Thanks,

TinyTotsSeramas and ZooMummy,
I personally love pet quality I have 3 pet/low breeder quality here. I wanted to show as a hobby because I showed in 4-h for the first time this year and loved it but can no longer be in 4-H. Ive have seen Jerry mention that any quality can have a chance to produce sq and i like the look of castle delights seramas so i thought id ask. I cant afford the best quality either so I am trying to find cheaper eggs and hope i get nice birds out of the hatch because birds also tend to cost more then i can afford.

Well here is some of the babies I got from CDS to show the different quality you can get..

Miracle (Now SunAngle's girl) - Longer back, just never had the want to pose... EVER... would rather be somewhere else then showing off.. but YELLOW LEGS

Andre - Nice short back and long wings that if his legs were longer, he'd carry vertically.. just need to teach him to carry his head back more

Hawk - By far everyone's favoret (and who Gumbii keeps trying to steal from me).. Short back, Verticle wings, over all carries herself well when NOT trying to catch a piece of grass im using to get her attention from running away!

Here is her natural pose as a 4 week old (this time she's really showing off and not trying to catch grass)

basically over all.. you have a toss up on what you'll get when you hatch.. you might get a Miracle or you might get a Hawk!

I think the photos from Tinytots and on my website (I also have a FB page with photos from just about everyone who has hatched chicks from my eggs so far) show that a lot of variety is produced from my birds. I have several breeders that I've been told can be shown if I wanted, but that has never been my intention. Several of my birds are going to be shown at our local fair (not a Serama show I know) this coming summer and one pair won first place last summer in Bend. My goal with my birds has been to provide quality Seramas (yellow legs, nice combs, as typy as possible) to people who cannot pay top dollar prices but want to get into the breed. I kind of think of it as buying purebred dogs or cats...not everyone wants SQ and if they do, they go to breeders who sell that quality.

You really think Cat is a boy? I'm not seeing that.....I guess time will tell!

Yeah, comb is getting pink an its so much bigger then Liah's but with it being nasty an rainy out today it bleached the red out of the photo.. Also has the attitude of a roo.. Chases your hand around when your doing food an waters, last birds I had do the same thing was my d'Uccle an OEGB roos when they were babies.

Yeah I realized after we had left and I was looking through the pictures that I probably should have gotten a head on shot of Liah for comparison.. Oh well I'll be back over there tomorrow to take care of them so I can get it then!
