Castor oil to Start Labor

Thanks again for all the advice and suggestions. The castor oil didn't do anything except the side effects. Luckily that is all done. She has been taking Evening Primrose orally and internally since Thursday, so hopefully that is helping to soften the cervix. We're leaving for the hospital this evening. The are going to insert the cervedil tonight, and see what happens. We are not going to let them break her water. Once that happens, we're on the clock in their eyes.

Hopefully everthing goes well. We are going to remain firm on how we want this to go, and if they try to change our course, we will have to make decisions based on what is best for Mom and baby. I'll tell you one thing, we won't let them push us around like they did w/ our first child. We have a lot more information this time.

Thanks again.

My wife went to her reflexoligist this morning. She gave her a good rub down. On the way home she started to feel some contractions. She's laying down resting right now. We are supposed to leave in 2 hours for the hospital. Hope the contractions keep coming and we can bypass the whole induction thing. The van is packed and ready to go.

Hopefully my next post will be in a few days with a great birth story.

Good luck!!!

It couldn't hurt for you to look up some accupressure labor points on-line while she's laying down and maybe work on them. I know there's some in the hand (web between the thumb and pointer finger) and some on the leg down by the ankle.

IF it's any encouragement, I was induced twice and had great labors. Once they broke my water and baby came in 12 hours. The second time it was only 6 with the help of pitocin.

I had no problems or complications.

Hope she has that girl soon!

Good luck! I hope things continue to progress well for her! You still have time to squeeze in some more pressure points/other induction methods at home.

If I'm not too late,,,,have her eat eggplant. We have a restaurant that promises another free eggplant casserole after the baby is born if the baby doesn't get born within 24 hours if you are due on date you go to the restaurant....Seems to work...Somthing about eggplant....Good luck. Praying for a really good d.elivery

Fantastic! Sorry I missed your post until now. I see you got lots of good advice and now it looks like things are getting started on their own- Yay!!

Wishing you all a peaceful, blissful birth. I had a home birth with mine and it was the most wonderful experience in the world- I hope you are able to re-create that home-like feel at the hospital tonight and that all goes beautifully for you all there.

Best wishes and Happy Birthing Day
