Cat bite

My local store only has injections but im going to grab them right now. Should i bring her inside? We live in austin so its 75 out and expected to be all week. Ive secured the coop/run and set traps around it

Get her on an oral antibiotic immediately if not sooner. Cat bites will kill since they are loaded with bacteria. Saline or soap and water will not clean out the bacteria that was injected deep into the tissues by the bite. This bacteria will kill in a very short time. Do not waste another minute. Get the antibiotic. If the feed store has amoxicillin, it is more effective than penicillin, but that will do if it's the only thing available.

Antibiotics have been given, i cleaned the wounds with vertericyn and put some triple antibiotic on it. Shes still laying as i found an egg in the box this afternoon and shes currently strutting around the run! Heres to hoping shr makes it through the night ok and is on the mend!

Hello im new here but have had chickens off and on for almost 10 years. We are only aloud 2 per our hoa so thats what we have. They have always free ranged our backyard but have a coop with a fenced in run that just stands open. Anyway yesterday 1 of our chickens was killed by what we believe was 2 cats. They tried to get the other 1 but only managed to get all her tail feathers during that attack. However she was attacked again after she escaped the coop last night (i locked her up in hopes to keep her safe) and now has a nice bite mark and gash on her butt. She survived the night and is currently very angrily strutting the run because shes locked up. But im worried about infection, i know cat bites can have tons of bacteria, what should i do?

Thanks she seems to be doing good! Still laying eggs, but im worried because its cold today we dropped 40 degrees overnight and its supposed to stay cold for the next week. Shes missing so many feathers im debating putting her in the garage at night for the next week just to be sure shes warm

A chicken that is sick needs extra heat, so try to keep her where it's around 50-60F. Any warmer, she will lose her cold resistance. Her feather loss doesn't mean all that much in the larger scheme as it's calorie intake, more than feather coverage, that is responsible for regulating body heat. Just make sure she is eating and drinking.

Thank you! Its supposed yo be in the teens for the next few days at night so ill definitely bring her in. She is eating and drinking well still so thats good!

She doesn't seem well this morning , she sounds almost like shes growling when she breaths and has clear discharge from her nose.

Tylan is what they gave me at the feed store, i have another feed store i found i can check and see if they have something else :/

No one around me has pencillian or amoxicillin in stock i don't know if i should try and order some or just let it be
