cats and chickens??? help me please!!

My cat a Bengal has killed two of my bantam size adult hen's..Now he's not allowed near the hens, he has to be put in the garage during the day because I don't trust him whatsoever. I placed an ad on CL to find him a new home, but I couldn't bring myself to place him despite the many calls..I love him to much to get rid of him. I've trained myself to be very careful knowing the killer he is.

My cats leave the big chickens and the bantams alone - I do keep a squirt bottle handy in case they start to stalk them and I keep the biddies protected. They don't see anything wrong with catching a light snack and eating it even if it is my chick.

The chickens have spooked the cats and my dogs some and I am not so worried about them.

We got 2 kittens and baby chicks at or near the same time, they were raised together. Now they play together, the cats are great at getting at the rodents, but have not harmed any chickens (knock on wood).

Also, at another location, I have a cat who is very territorial, he chases even racoons away. He's a very big boy and has taken out many rodents and birds. However, when I brought in 5 adult hens, he took right to them, now he loves them.

It's hard to say what you should do, however, I think if you were to get a kitten or two and raise them around the chickens, they'll understand the chickens as part of the pack and not as food. Good Luck whatever you decide.
