Cats & Christmas Tree's... How does THAT work???

one year in Vegas Dad and I grabbed up three tumble weeds graduating in size... spray painted them white and stuck them on a post outside. The stuck a hat and arms and a stick for nose eyes and mouth...

Not an original idea but it was fun to make.

How do they differ from Easter stains, I wonder

silly boy Greens and golds for Xmas Whites pinks blues and golds for easter.... LOL...Heck you could do one side Easter and the other side Xmas...

Ah, i get ya For some bizarre reason something completely different sprang to my mind

All you really need is to put an electrified fencing around the tree but, not close enough
to cause safety problems. I think one good zap would send kitties on their way pronto.

While I've not had cats, dogs can be equally cat-astrophic with Christmas trees. Just last year my female dog (RIP) pulled a cotton batting ornament off a tree and left it shredded all over the rug - I was only grateful that she destroyed a reproduction ornament and not a vintage one.

As I've collected Christmas ornaments for quite a while (just hit 3500 ornaments this year), even a single "oops" can be be pretty devastating. So I had doors hung on a sitting room and that's now my dedicated tree room. Dogs are allowed only with supervision!

Rats on the other hand, no problem!

This picture was pretty unexpected. Its giving me visions of Nutcrackers, Sugar Plum Princesses & a life sized Mouse King.

I'd love to see what vintage ornaments look like!

This reminds me of all the antics with cats and Christmas trees I’ve seen over the years. For most of my life we had real trees, floor to ceiling. Learned not to hang anything fragile on the lower third, nothing edible either. No tinsel. Even a big sturdy tree is no match for a 12 lb cat..... they can wrestle that tree down and enjoy doing it!! Younger cats usually climbed up, sometimes pounced on someone walking past.... I can still hear the screams
If you enjoy decorating the tree - get a cat or 3..... every morning ornaments had to be gathered and hung, again. And again. And one of any cats favorite things is to lay under the tree.... mom was kind enoufh to fashion a big bed with a tree skirt and wrapped boxes! And yes, the boxes and wrapping and bows make great toys too!.
Using fake trees did not change much . Small tree on a raised platform .... not good either. Learned to live with it, the cats appreciate the annual decorated jungle gym
