I'm a little confused.
Do you have a rooster?
How old are your chickens & what breeds do you have?

A full grown standard hen or rooster is perfectly capable of intimidating an adult cat. I would not worry about your hens though I would keep an eye on your cat until you are sure he knows his place.

You need a rooster for fertilised eggs. Hens will lay eggs without a rooster, they just won't be fertilised eggs.

If your hens are new it will take them some time to get used to their new surroundings. However they need to eat & drink. You may have to encourage them & show them where the food & water is. Hens can become dehydrated very quickly & die if they don't drink ~ & they drink a lot!!!
