I think cats can be misunderstood by folks who don't know a cat personally.

Here are Winston and Matisse - such good brothers. Raising litter mates together has taught me how social cats can be.

Aww, everyone has beautiful kitties!

This is our ragdoll, Vinnie. He's the sweetest soul I've ever had the pleasure to know. He's a retired breeder, and we've had him for about two years. He's 11, and is in the beginning stages of renal failure. For now, it's under control with prescription diet. We'd never have known anything was wrong if we hadn't taken him in for his regular yearly teeth cleaning and had the blood panel done that we always have done. Yes, it's a lot of money spent over the years if nothing is ever wrong, but eventually you'll catch something early and in enough time to do something about it and that's priceless.

He's 21 pounds of love and fuzzy. <3 He likes belly rubs and hugs.

Gorgeous kitties, all!

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I have a cat (behavior) question, please!

Is my very healthy/sweetie-pie/rotten/lovable/pirate/cuddle-buddy cat trying to:

A) save me from something I shall never understand
B) show his superiority (like there's any debate possible there, lol)
C) sacrifice himself so I have soft footing
D) kill me (but then who'd be his servant? nah, he's too smart for that)
E) grab my attention that's momentarily not focused on being his servant
F) greet me in cat body language that's somehow become a twisted obsession
G) other (please explain)....

...when he literally runs (at breakneck speed and great threat to his own bodily harm) to flop down fully stretched out on the STEPS just before my foot touches down on it. This is a recent thing that suddenly started one day out of the blue and that has continued every single time for a few months now. He's about 5 years old.

OK here's are my two tabbies. They are sisters, about 7 years old now.

For some reason Chubbs doesn't understand that she's too big to lay on this, her belly hangs over the edge

This is her sister Bucky. Chubbs is strictly an indoor cat (by her choice, she will not set foot outside)
Bucky is almost completely outdoors now, she hates being cooped up in the house. She even eats outside and sleeps in one of the patio chairs.

Chubbs is admittedly my favorite. They are both cuddle-bugs but Chubbs is *desperate* for attention. She will cat-scream at you if you try to ignore her.

E & C wouldn't be so bad.

Stepping on him (happened once), or acting like I'm gonna, or scooting him off with my foot results in love nibbles to my ankle.

I wonder if he is all exited to get your attention because you might be heading toward the kitchen soon to give him a treat. If there are any concerns about safety, you may want to have a spray bottle to remind him that steps are not the best place to play "nibble the ankle" Then the rascal will relocate the play to even ground.
