An alternative to T.V. (both the kitties and the picture!)

My sweet Beastie (a barn rescue now passed and in the kitty graveyard by the big rock, and actually she wasn't that sweet I have the scars to prove it) once brought me a live chipmunk! Came in, dropped it in my living room, and away it ran. I was able to get it out, but it was a little crazy. We don't want live chipmunks in the house! Cats definitely like to bring you presents and I really think that's what they are doing (but I prefer them ready for the crock pot!) Chiklee's kittie looks like he's surprised it's not moving any more!

I hear ya! Our Ginger occasionally brings home his 'toys', but more frequently leaves them outside - dead - so the Beagles can have a snack!! Max Cat, doesn't hunt much now, but he used to bring home all sorts of live things. He once brought a live Blue Jay thru' the cat door! Not sure who was more surprised, the Blue Jay or me!

Had a cat do the same thing other than it was stunned and afraid and hid, lucly the cat found it and finally killed it. my mom refused to believe what I saw until the cat was chewing it down. her cat cannot do any wrong.

I 'let' the chipmunk out the back door. And as far as the snake goes? YIKES!!

I don't think I could sleep. I like snakes fine - when they are in their own habitat! In reality, it probably crawled into a dark place and died for lack of food and water. Maybe you'll find it some day...

Well, MY cats certainly can do wrong! Particularly when they're destroying my furniture!

Then you've not given them enough places to sharpen their claws. I built my own cat trees (2) from reclaimed wood and old(er) carpet (installed hardwood) and still have all our furniture untouched. Might give your kids some other places to scratch... even a couple 4' 2x4's, in a vertical positions, will get used. Our kids scratch on all the bare wood they can. They have learned to not like scratching on things that have material on them. Bare wood is their preference, but there is some clean up of shredded wood, regularly. Just hit it with the vac when going around the house.

BTW, it's cat belly season...
