Thank you, I'll look at that. I will need to research it a bit to see if it will work where I want to put it. After multiple problems with hens and roosters being triggered by light sources I have my coop in a pretty dark corner of the property. Something very low light would be required.
Ferrets are killers, domesticated or not and in most states it is illegal to have one as a pet. When you predator proof a coop you have to think like a predator, they don't need much of an opening . You or some one else can set a trap each night ,if caught have it removed to Animal control or elsewhere. If it doesn't have a collar on no need to notify any owners. It will be back.
You need to find a hunter in your neighborhood, they would be glad to help lessen the pack. Coyotes are Everywhere.
I would try a site like Next Door or something like that and ask for trapper or pest removal expert. No reason to say its anyones pet. Let them take care of the situation.
Until recently there were several farmers who'd thin the pack for us at least every other year or so. But all are now gone, moved or died and no one else is remotely interested in tackling the rabid group of animal rights activists and PETA groupies now moved into the area. They are very dangerous people in their own way. Deer population has exploded, they keep feeding them, and they keep getting tamer and tamer. A fed deer is a dead deer. Every true wild life expert out there will warn you over and over, you do the wild animal no favors by feeding them and luring them into thinking humans are harmless. The results are starving to death all over my woodland valley and ravaging the farms and gardens of all living here. And with the situation now with the virus destroyed economy not getting or likely to be getting any better for a while people desperately need the food from those gardens.
We are rural. A neighbor in the area, let some fellows hunt on his land. He lives elsewhere but comes up on the weekends to his property. I did hear some shooting and haven't seen many coyotes in awhile so I'm assuming they may have gotten some. The neighbor had some dens on his property. His property is wooded, mine is mostly open pasture. There are some woods across the street and behind us. In the past I was seeing them nightly on my cameras but now I'm only seeing them once in awhile. Lately I have been getting more pictures of a skinny fox.
