Caught on camera

He's gorgeous. To bad he has to go. But you gotta what you gotta do. Yup I'd stay up and wait for him to come then blam! elimination, lack of education.

In our little local paper this week their was an article letting us all know that if we have a problem with predators there was a group of hunters that would happily come solve your problem for free.

Hope you get him !
I'm going coyote hunting tonight because 1 came up right beside the house and tried to grab a hen with biddies yesterday.I chased him off but he was gone by the time I got the gun.Its the 3rd times hes been up so close.

Shoot I worry about racoons>> I would hate to find that in my yard..

Found your post and coyote picture. Wanted to share our experience this summer with a coyote. We have a flock of 6 laying hens and a new crop of 15 Amerecana and Welsummer babies coming along along with 9 ducks. They are all put in the henhouse every night and in the day range in our backyard & pond area enclosed with 5 ft. chicken wire fencing. During the day we missed 2 of our young Welsummers (only 2 that I had at the time!) We figured a hawk or owl - but we knew they had been taken in the day from their fenced area (5 ft. chicken wire). Few days later while my husband was in the vineyard on his tractor he encountered a coyote acting strangely - walking in circles - and showing no fear of him. He came up to the house for his 22 and shot him (a big male but very skinny). His legs were so long it looked very possible he cleared the fence. We are in a rural area of Western NY and I fear another of his clan will come looking for a free meal. To protect them during the daytime is hard even with a 5 foot fence. I don't like to kill wildlife of any kind but will to protect my babies! I have since acquired a Welsummer rooster and 6 young Welsummer pullets. He crows ALL THE TIME so am hoping he will alert the others if a predator is around.

Hope we get him soon. We are on ten acre in a rural area. So there is plenty of natural food sources for the coyote. We are only get rid of the one that has decided he likes chicken dinner. In this area they will get your cats and small dogs so they are not allowed to run loose.

Poor thing looks starved! My god dont you have any culls you can spair? Well in any case its about time for their new coats to be in. if you plan the time right you can harvest him and get some money for his pelt to repay what he has taken in the past. Either way you choose, lock em up well at night or he will just eat well. good luck on getting him.
on another note I am concerned with Ptwoodys story about a circle walker (coyote). I dearly hope you didnt get any blood on you or breath to heavely around the dead animal. I am very concerned that that was a case of rabies. Best case senario you burried it deep or burned it in a bon fire. Any one finding an animal that out of wack needs to dispose of it with a little contact as possible. Fire is your best bet. If you can toss it on a bon fire call local animal control, police, state game managment, or the health department. Humans have yet to cure any virus and Rabies is a virus !

Ive got bears and coyotes. Electric fence is the only way to go. I spent about $200 but I have no worries.
