So how soon before it's out and about again?

No way, no how is a snake touching me on purpose! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!! I truly would die of a heart attack or panic attack. I am so afraid that I freeze in place, can't speak, can't move. It's an awful, awful feeling.

Ok, I know these kind of posts aren't helping you but after reading this and seeing your pics, I am feeling better about our rattle snakes and 50 cent piece size Wof spiders that give me the willies! I thought I was tuff but I think I've met my match!

Hope he decides to find a new home and your chicks survive well. Are your spiders dangerously poisnous?

Ollie lives in a Cabin at the horseback riding stables here. He will probably play with it tomorrow and set it free in the woods or under the shed where they store tons of grain.

I kinda feel bad,

my best friend forever, Bobbi came down to see a movie with Me and Kelly tonight. I kept saying she was going to FREAK when she saw it. Ollie was leaving with it when she pulled up, so I grabbed it and ran toward her car...she didn't even scream. She just started smacking at the door locks, covered her face and sobbed. Pretty much had a panic attack. I put it away and told her I was really sorry. I forgot HOW scared she was. I felt bad, but we had a good laugh about it later.

The fisher spiders are huge and not poisonous, but Im sure they could give a nasty bacteria ridden bite! You have to worry about black widows and brown recluse here.

I dont kiss rattlers!! I like them from a distance...

I wonder if my chickens would eat mothballs? I dont really want another snake, this one was big enough to do some damage. I was hoping for something more less chemical-ly. Like "have a party and tell all the guys they have to pee around the building to deter predators--they hate that!!" or something a bit more natural.

Only you would think of something like that!

UPDATE: The snake was set free at the farm where it has PLENTY of mice and rats and spiders and other stuff to eat. Ollie almost cried when he let his "new pet" go.......He wanted to keep it in the cabin where he sleeps and I told him I would not ever stay the night if there was a snake in the room! (especially if it was just wandering around loose!)

Rat Snake and so good idea to set free way off-- not a danger to big birds but a danger to the Seramas. And will eat eggs. Should be good mice control elsewhere.

OMG Jessi, he could have eaten us the other day when I was there...hahahahah! You need a mongoose now!

You know, I can handle snakes, but not SPIDERS!!! If there is one really, really bad thing about chickens, it is the spiders in the coop. They sit above your head and I cannot for the life of me pass under one to collect eggs!! I have to get my husband to do it.

And why oh why do the chickens not eat the hideous spiders is beyond me! It would make my life so much easier.
