Hello everyone,
I live in the beautiful Cobb County, GA and I wanted to know what will happen if you got caught having chickens in your backyard? I have three and I checked with my close neighbors and they seem fine with the idea, we almost have a acre, but sadly your required to have two. Who is with me, that the laws should be changed. It's not like the hens are giants and going to kill people, they are amazing pets and produce eggs. I would die if I got my chickens got taken away.

I wish the laws would change, I have all hens no roo's.

In my humble opinion, the laws are made to bust the trouble makers. As long as you are a good chicken steward, don't call attention to yourself, and share your eggs with your neighbors how could you possibly get caught?

I think it's a mandatory 10 years in the big house. "Whatcha in for, murder?" "Nope, illegal chickens"

Sorry, don't know, but probably a warning first, then confiscated chooks. Go to your town meetings & get the laws changed.

I'm also not sure exactly what happens in your town. I would think it would be removal of said chickens and a fine. They could also levy a fine on you for every day you keep them after they tell you to get rid of them plus interest (that is, if they don't come and remove the chickens themselves).

Start a petition. Get your neighbors to sign it, then take it to the next town meeting. My word, what are three chickens going to hurt? There are alot more serious problems in the world than someone having 3 chickens in their backyard!!!

Give me a break!!!!!!!

Check with the city and find out what happens if you are caught and find out how to change the laws. There is generally a fine and potential charges. Good luck getting the laws changed

The secret is to not get caught. Make friends with the neighbors. I don't call the cops or immigration on my neighbors and they don't turn in my illicit chicken operation.

Wow. I live on an acre and I've had two horses, three goats, almost two dozen chickens plus the dogs and cats, all at the same time. Oh yeah and the hubby and kiddos. We're probably someone's worst nightmare

Don't fret about hiding, go to your council meetings and get the law changed. Then, you'll be able to get more hens!
