Cayuga Duck Club!

Awesome thread! Following!
Cayuga's have a interesting past, are they native? Hybrid? Or something else all together?
Beautiful birds!
Great dual purpose, not the biggest, not the best layer, but darn good at both.

It is so fun to share my love of ducks with my kids. My youngest just can't get enough of them.

Oh my gosh how awesome, I cannot wait. I have 10 Cayuga embryos on day 12 in the bator all moving tons yesterday. My daughter was so excited to watch me candling them. I want a pool like yours for them! So adorable :)
I am also loving my Cayuga Muscovy mules they are such sweet, adorable little bug catchers :)

Cayuga were on my list of 'breeds wanted' from the very start. I just love those all black bills and feet. :love I was going to wait til spring to get more ducklings. Then my SIL asked if I wanted some free ducklings that my niece's school hatched. Guess what breed they hatched? I brought home these four cuties yesterday. They are a little over a week old.

I am out of town all week for work and my husband knows I have been worrying about the ducklings. So he sent me this photo today of them playing in the pool.

He also sent me a video of the ducklings in the same pen as the adults and I about had a heart attack. But he was there the whole time and watched them closely. He was briefly introducing them to each other. My adult male KC tried to peck at one of the ducklings that's about 2 weeks old. The little gal wasn't having any of it. She ran at him and pecks HIM! And he goes running off like a big baby. That was funny she was sticking up for herself at such a small age (my husband wouldn't let anything happen to them and was within touching distance the whole time). Never did I dream I would love ducks so much!

I'm here too! I have four Cayuga ducks. I thought all four were female, until yesterday when Squeakers mounted Babbles in the water pond! (I wouldn't have known what the heck they were doing if I hadn't been on here reading) There is no drake feather on him. The first two we got in April, and I loved them so much I got two more in May. They are not laying yet. I had no idea they would breed so early. We were thinking that duck was a male, reading on here about the quacks and the rasp. He is a fatty, too!
