Less than a minute later, they both tear off together and dive into the coop like the Hounds of Hell are after them. Buds, again.

So, observations will continue until I am certain there’s even a problem.

Windstorm warnings out for midnight until 1800 hours tomorrow. Twenty to thirty mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph possible.

Boy, am I glad I was able to get the chicken house anchored. Looks like we’re starting early here at the homestead. Already clocking 20 mph winds, rattling the siding and whistling along the gutters. Word of advice: If given the option in a high wind area, go with steel siding. It’s less noisy.

I did a walk through the yard after bedding down the chickens. I was looking for loose stuff that could potentially become airborne. Down below the rims where I’m located is windy enough. I’d hate to be either of the two neighbors I see with homes at the peak of the northern hills. One is still under construction. I wonder if anything will blow down. I hope not.
