CENTRAL FLORIDA SWAP MEET - JAN. 17th

Very pretty, I have "I think a pair" of kelly's ee/silkie mixes and they have the same colors and same eye stare lol.

I have a black roo and a black hen and a blue hen and 2 barred hens...They have not started laying yet...i am hopefully going to have eggs but not yet......The are a really sweet bird..i really enjoy them.....as soon as they start laying i will let you know..Kelly has the first dozen....but when they start i will have plenty with four girls...

Your roo is pretty, it is kinda colored like a Mille Fleur. Iwas talking about the silkie roo you mentioned, at least I think it was you. I know what you mean about tragedys, when my DH lost his leg in April and I had to spend so much time at the hospital I lost almost everything I had...they (my birds have always been my refuge).

thanks ladybug, I will be looking forward to them. They are really sweet birds for sure. I had a great Brahma roo I lost also. He was so sweet as a chick we went all over our place on my shoulder, I thought for sure it was a pullet so I named him Precious.....had to change it to Mr. Precious, I have 1 of his son's but he doesn't compare to his daddy.

Bitty I am going to come "shopping" at your house. lol I'll help you out.......gotta finish the 2nd coop first though.

ladybug at what age do cochins start laying? Or is it a matter of the weather? I have one hen and I watch and check every day. I spend lots of time with my chickens now, never knew they would be so fascinating and comical and soothing. Picked up 3 little stools one for me and each of the kids to be able to sit on to watch the chickens. If my S.N. daughter goes outside, I know where she has gone to. To feed blades of green grass to them. Nice to watch.

They lay the usual but mine are not laying i think because of light issues...the went into a molt and have not laid since.....I am hoping they will start soon. I want more of them and i can not hatch any cause they are not laying grhhhhhhhhhhhh

I am thinking of putting a full spectum light bulb in that coop. These 4wk olds in the classroom get pep talks along with the others on a daily basis. Only have one hen about 18wks. old she gets the, come on you can do it girl, just one little ol' egg, just for me.

When that egg does come, everybody I know gets an email

Lord help me when I get a bator.

As a side question, what the heck is this crazy screech sound this oegb chick makes? It found its voice and man is it ever weird.
