Can't hurt to try it. Are you using the light in the morning prior to sun up for 5 hours?

No I have it turning on at five in the evening and then turning off at 10:00pm and i am up to getting seven eggs from none 2 weeks ago so it is working good

You can breed a sizzle to a sizzle as long as they're not both frizzled. You can't breed 2 frizzled birds together b/c 25% of the chicks will have feather and metabolic problems and it's usually lethal.

I was wanted to ask a question because I have never been to one of the swaps. I have decided that since I am limited on space and I really want to concentrate on on just a couple of breeds of chickens that I am going to get rid of my ducks. Like I said before there are about 12 full blooded runners and about 5 crosses, 3 of which are roen/runner the other 2 are pekin/runner. Do you think anyone would be interested ?? We are driving about 4 hours to come and thats a long way with 17 ducks. I also wanted to know if there is much interest in mutt chickens ? To keep my birds secure I have to thin the mutts out. They are black astrolope, red sex links, and some I have no idea most were fathered by my light Brahma rooster that I lost a few months ago. All the ducks were hatched last spring and the chickens were too. I just want to get a feel of what might be of interest.

Thanks for reading
Leslie

How old are your "mutts"? There were quite a few folks, including me, last time just looking for laying hens of anykind.

I don't know about ducks. I think only a couple were brought last time and they were sold. You're right...that's a lot of ducks to bring!!

Kelly can probably answer this better than I can. She's in the know about what folks are looking for.

We have decided to only have bantam cochins, so generally we aren't looking to buy. But I will have some chicks to sell!

Okay it depends on how much you want for the laying hens & would problably be interested in all of them. 2nd The Runners I may be interested in as long as I know the colors & if they are true I can prob buy them also. Just depends on how much you want for them also I can prob buy a few of them if the price is right! I have people come by my place all the time for laying hens & I breed runners so I am always interested in new bloodlines.

Ferngully-LOL My momma used to always say that! She is from GA so its an oldtimer thang I think!
