Ceramic eggs?

Do ceramic eggs really make a difference in the laying speed of your chickens? I’ve read that they encourage chickens to lay more but I don’t know if that is just when they are laying for the first time. Anybody know anything about this? Will try anything that helps my girls lay more!

In a word, no. Ceramic eggs will help a chicken learn where to lay, but it won't make them lay any more than they're capable of laying.

It might help a little I have one but I don't use it anymore because they lay a lot and once I had one at night and I thought it was the fake so I pressed my thumb on it to make sure and it was a real one I don't think they help that much maybe a little they are cheap you could buy some or even make some

Ceramic eggs do not increase egg production, I have never heard that before. I have heard that Ceramic eggs are used to encourage new hens to start laying, also I think they are used to show a hen where she should lay.

Exactly, they don't induce production ....they are to help direct the location.

I bought some last night and put them in their nesting boxes. I came home from work today and they were on the ground. My hens kicked them out of the boxes.

It's also fun to watch the hens roll them around and to see where you find them each day.

My new layers had no idea where to lay. Added golf balls to the nest boxes, still no idea where to lay. Put a ceramic egg in one box, all of them fight over that one box to lay. Go figure.
