i'll try to get clearer photos tomorrow ...i had no idea it was so difficult to get a bird's picture ...i think it was easier to get my Zebra finches to pose when i had them than the Coturnix! LOL
i don't mean to sound dumb but what do you mean by"color bled"? Some of their feathers are a clear, bright white and others are the cream/champagne shade...
this whole Coturnix thing is new to me. They're alot different from Zebra finches, cockatiels, budgies and such which i had for many years.
Any input /clarification from more experienced people is hugely appreciated. These birds fascinate me.
When I mean color bled, the bird could have gotten splashed by water that had electrolytes (yellow powder) and the yellow got on the feathers and faded in, like a stain. I know that when my birds were pricked for the NPIP, the blood made them pink for a week. I had to wash them in special solution to get white again, but then they dust bathe in dirt at times and well, they have a tint off white color at times when I don't bathe them. Japanese Coturnix are facinating birds, that's why I love them so much. You may have a pied/tux, I am really not sure unless I see a picture more clearer.
