I can't wait for these chicks to hatch! I need a little cheering up! Work is absolutely sucking and it's about to suck even more, but I guess that's why it's called work and not vacation 🤔 :lau
I am going to try and hatch mine this year for the first time. I get the anxiety because it's like waiting for them to get big enough to let them outside. Then you'll be waiting for them to get bigger and start laying. Then you have to find a way to keep them from flying out of the coop. Ok you talked me out of it,,,lol

Not really sure but I have always allowed a new flock to be big enough to defend themselves before introducing them to an existing flock. On top of that I closely monitor them when I do.
That post was a long time ago, since then I am an avid hatcher (either with an incubator or broody) and brood my chicks out in the run in an enclosed grow out pen. I have little hidey hole doors just for them that go out with the big birds staring at 2ish weeks old. I haven't lost a chick yet and usually by 6 weeks old they follow the rest of the flock to bed in the coop with no assistance from me. Makes integration a breeze.

You should do it! I love it! I can give you some helpful links on everything from hatching to outdoor brooding, just let me know. And yes, I will enable on this subject every time 🤣

My eggs came! Look at these gorgeous things 😍 The picture doesn't do them justice, they are such rich and rustic looking colors!
