Changing to Sweet PDZ

Howdy neighbor, we like to come down to Bald Knob and eat at Who Dat's from time to time.

Yea even a wet one is easy to clean up. Loving it.

How are you 'scooping'?

I'm using an old kitty litter scoop and have a mesh strainer that I carry the poop to the compost bin. I also use the mesh strainer with a small hand shovel to pick up all the poop in the chicken yard and run.

I'm using http://www.goliathscoop.com/ for my needs (cleaning poop boards), works great. Love the sweet PDZ! Also use the scoop to clean out dust box.

JT, just cover the whole board, they will do fine. I made a PDZ leveler, after seeing one that Aart made. I would recommend using round head screws, instead of finish nails like I originally used, in this picure. Leave them 1/2 inch out, it makes it quick and easy to smooth out the PDZ.

I finally got a few minutes to cobble up my version of the PDZ leveler. I whittled the ends of a dowel to fit tight on some washers then drilled an undersized hole for the dowel handle. The washers maintain a constant distance from the floor to the dowel so no matter the angle the PDZ is pretty level.

That's pretty cool.
I prefer the 2 screws into edge of 1x3, gets into corners and can adjust the depth by tilting-which is nice for mixing in additional fresh PDZ.
Different strokes(literally) for different folks.

How are you liking the PDZ on the coop floor?

I'm loving PDZ, it's so easy to pick up the poop no matter what. Yea I know what you mean, I have to reach under low roosts from the outside so I could not control the angle at all times so the constant depth works better for me.

I'll never go back to scraping poop boards with a 12" mud knife.

The thought did cross my mind to make a small Zen Garden Rake...

Maybe a toothed attachment?
