I had a buff hatch last week. I really didn't want a buff, as they're not APA recognized, but it's so sweet and precious.

Tara, have you found the dark brown chick down to yield the mahogany? Any correlation on the chipmunk stripes to anything?

Hi Shelly! I'm not Tara, sorry. That would be @CanuckBock.
I'm just starting with my birds. These are the first I've hatched myself, actually.

No, sorry. I don't have good enough stock or enough birds. I only have one hen for breeding, and even she isn't fantastic, lol. She barely has any pencilling on her. I would cull her, but I have no other hens and am too broke to buy better stock as of now.

Breeding partridge is so tough! I'm happy trying to improve structure and feathering on the whites.
This spring I had the flock separated for three + weeks so the Chanties would be purebred, and NONE of the eggs hatched under my broody hen! Now I have two broody wannabes, and no way to tell which eggs are the right ones.

From a smallish breeder a bit away from me---I'd give you his name, but he's not selling any more, sorry.
