The white being the original Chantecler is my main interest, and the one I would go for, my climate here in NE Wa will be similar to that of parts of Quebec at their development, so I'd really like to hear from breeders of the white.
 
Hi Maybe if you go to the Canadian thread on where are you whaere I am they could help you out as i know there is quite a few breeding them ....also the Chanteclers have an association you can google it has a lot of information...i just recd 12 chicks from an order of Ameraucans back in May they are the partridge and so far the roos are huge going to freezer camp soon and i have 4 pullets very personable birds and seem much quieter than the Ameraucanas.
 
Yes I have the assoc address and have been looking at the site, it looks like an active and growing breed after a few years of fading, the value of a sound dual purpose homestead breed is being seen again.
 
Jake, there is also a Yahoo group, as well as the listserv forum for the breed club. I can't answer your question about the whites because I truly do not know. There might not be a difference between the color varieties, but I'm thinking all the Chanteclers lay later rather than sooner. They mature more slowly than the egg laying production breeds.
