Quote: Very good to know! I did not supplement my flock with light last winter until February, but that was only because I wanted fertile eggs to start picking up for Easter so I wouldnt have to buy any to color for the kidsMost of my older flock ( 12 hens, misc breeds ) did not lay all winter, the only ones to give me eggs were my Barred Rock and Pekin duck. So to have a breed to can lay with out the extra electric on my bill will be great. So I'm crossing my fingers they will lay for this winter
Being in Wisconsin and the Winter starting early and ending late it will be nice to have a breed that will work better for us. If they do well enough I may need to work on changing my flock over. Thanks for all the info I appreciate it !
