Prologue

"Where are you going?" A young woman chuckled, watching her sons trying to sneak out of the house.

"Uh, no where, mama..." The 5-year-old twin boys said, attempting to hide a large parcel of supplies behind their backs.

"Uh-huh. What's behind your backs?" The mother smirked, crossing her arms.

"Nothing..." One of the boys, the older one, said quietly. His younger brother (by mere minutes) stood quietly to the side, trying to open the door so the two could run out. The boys had the same raven black hair and steely blue eyes, as well as the same, lean build and promise of great stature. They were identical, having high cheek bones and slightly delicate-looking noses. Their features gave them an innocent, yet mischievous look. At the moment, both boys had an impish gleam in their eyes as they worked their way out of the door.

"Be back by lunch." Their mother smiled. "And don't cause trouble!"

"We won't, mama." The younger boy said quickly, running out with his brother. They laughed as they ran down the street of the fishing port city, heading towards the dock. Their father was a merchant, and they were going to visit him at his job.

"I'll beat you there, John!" The older boy laughed.

"No you won't, James!" John grinned, keeping pace with his brother.

They both laughed, trying to shove each other as they raced to the docks, but barely managing not to drop the parcel to the ground as they ran.

Two large hands grabbed the boys as they ran by and alley, quickly muffling their screams with cloths as a group of large men blocked the alleyway while the boys were knocked out and tied up.

The young mother paced the floor, worried about her boys. "Where are they?" She murmured. Her husband, Andrew Greyson, had come home for lunch and said that he hadn't seen the boys at all that day.

"Eliza, please calm down. I'm sure the boys are just playing around the Common with some of their little friends..." Andrew said, his voice was tight with fear for the worse, but he had to stay positive for his wife's sake.

"I know, but they should have been home by now!" Eliza said nervously, her soft hazel eyes filled with tears as she worried for the saftey of her sons.
