Everyone!! Hope all is well in chicken land with my friendly chicken peeps!! I have eggcitingh news- Day 20 and got a baby!! now day 21, and have 3 babies and 2 pips!! I guess they are trying to all be successful in their job!!
If you look closely you can see the beak of the one in the blue egg- It is the light spot in the pip hole....LOL YAY!!!!
Looks like everyone so busy!! No posts here yesterday
Hope all is well with you guys!!
Still nothing from our Silver............
Well, I hope everyone has a day of Perfection!! I am not so patiently awaiting the arrival of 2 more chickies!!!!!
I meant on the BYC site, there are like 16 PAGES of posts that no one ever answered, most of them from newbies!
once I discovered the button, I have been trying to answer them......at least a few every day. But some are over 2 weeks old! I feel so bad, lots of newbies just really need to know someone is listening.
Thank you Alaskan. I will use this button all the time and try to help everyone. When I was new, none of my threads where answered it sucked. So I am going to change that !!!
Hoping today is a terrific day everywhere for everyone!!!!!
Boy, That's a tall order!! LOL
OK, I promised I would post pics. Here they are:
Well, I guess I don't have a pic with all 4 of them out from under the mama together.
I say 4 because I had to put down one. The one in the blue egg.
It hatched, I walked by the brooder, and saw it. Then about 2 hours or so later I was in my room, and I heard all this horrible cheeping. When I came and looked, the poor little thing was trying to walk, dragging what looked like intestines behind it, blood everywhere, and a lung sticking out between its head and wing. OMG, It was a terrible sight!
So, I put the little thing down. I hope I don't ever have to do that again!!
Anyway, here's the breakdown of what I ended up with-
2 silkie x silkie- one is marked like a chipmunk, and the other is dark blue with a tinge of brown
on head, and brown rings around its eyes- I have to guess that the first will be a
regular partridge silkie, and the second will be a blue partridge, like the mama,
hopefully with more of the blue.....Let's hope for hens
1 mutt x mutt- white with some black splash in there, just like the last batch.
1 silkie x mutt-white, no spots......yet
Again, Hopefully hens- i am quickly becoming overrun with roos.....LOL
Tony- sorry you are stuck inside and can't get stuff done. You have been working so hard, and I know how frustrating it is to be stopped by the rain, maybe you need a break-
Alaskan- Thanks for bringing the unanswered posts button to our attention. That is the BYC spirit!!!
I have seen other chicken forums, but I have not participated on any. I just am comfortable here, and most members are not stuffy, if you get my drift. I love BYC,
and this is where I am staying!!
Chickadoodles- glad you got a syrup order- pm me with details- do you only fill local orders? what kind of syrup? Hope you got rested up from the catching of all those birdies!!!
I had one get out the other day, and it took me a good hour to catch her- i was running around after her yelling for help, but no one heard me with the windows all closed and a/c running....rotten little chicken......fast little buggers!!
I need a net, and I'm fresh out of mealworms
Hope the rain nets you some great fruit!!! What kind of fruit do you grow? Forgive me if you have said and I missed it
(me)....LOL
Ok, I am going back now to get properly caught up, and make sure I didn't miss something!
honestly i comment here because i like people who are real with each other not the oh thats nice pat pat type stuff. and yes you guys are nicer.. heck look at me i just jumped in this thread like nothing.
and my father gave me the ok to do a swap or easter hatch out and we both would like marans thats the other reason i brought it up so long ago.. we are using the chickens for him to spend time with the grand kids.. and for the grandkids to learn a bit about their "food" they have a garden (two small fields) they work with him in ... now we have chickens lol garden disposals...very spoiled chickens. the grandkids part is going to be intresting cause he has both ends of the spectrum, a grandson who wont touch any thing that gets his hands dirty. and a soon to be 5 yr old (this month mine turns 5) that you cant keep away from bugs, dirt and animals. and getting my 9 month old started the right way.. i think the best little game my daughter came up with is.. what can i pick to feed the chickens (weeds ect). i just smile and let her go. she misses the old barred rock rooster.
