I'm in shock that she said you could get more, and it sounds like she got over her shock !!!!

Well, here's what's on my menu for today: I must get started building a pen for these Cayugas!! DH is supposed to be home today, so hopefully I can get him over to our property and get that started!!!! Then, when the hardware cloth arrives, (hopefully on Monday) I can get everything enclosed. I had ordered 4 ducks, but 2 died in shipping, so now i have to pick up the other 2 replacements tomorrow....

I am guessing they will be too small to put in with these monsters I have now, so I must get that pen built ASAP.
I also have 6 chicks (bantams) coming that I had also ordered at the time of the original order, that died too.
Does anyone have experience putting new chicks in with 3-4 week olds? I don't know what all will come tomorrow as replacements, but i need advice on this. My gut tells me it's not a good idea to put the new babies in there, but not sure.

OH, I forgot to ask- The Cayugas now are fully feathered out on their bellies, wing feathers coming in and feathers on backs just starting to come in. Is it ok to put them out say next week sometime?? Our temps are now regularly above 70 daytime, and not going below 60 at night.
If so, should I put a heat lamp in the duck house at night?
These are the first ducks I've had, and I don't want to harm them.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice!!!!!

Hi Guys-
Sorry I was off since yesterday afternoon, I had a really bad headache and had to get some sleep.
i had asked my daughter to come on and let you all know, but she doesn't know how threads work, so i see she didn't try........
Hope everyone had a great day and evening I missed hanging out with you all!!!

Headaches are yuck. Hope you're feeling better today.

Sorry, no experience to help you with your questions. Hopefully someone will have some advice for you.

Thanks BR,

I appreciate that!! I am better today!
Someone will know. I did talk to my feed store guy this morning and he said he could sell the incoming ducklings to someone else, so that is a start!
That enables me to take the chickies on order, as i can put them in the other brooder.

Things are working themselves out , just not fast enough to head off full blown panic....

I put mine out when they are all feathered in or almost there..depending on temps..I think with your temps they should be OK but might want to try it with the lamp at first...I'm no expert just speaking from experience ...I have 1 Peking and 2 khakis outside with no light on and they are maybe a week or two ahead of your guys
