i hear tinkerbell ....

th

Silver ??? Who's tinkerbell? Love the name!

I truly believe dogs are almost human, like real close to being a child, much less a best friend. . .I've had 3 in my lifetime that I raised.

1 male pick-a-poo, poodle/pekinese, 12 years old when he passed. My baby boy. Said no more dogs. Too painful.

Then. . .couple years later, 1 male rottenspainel-rescue, Rottweiler/cocker spaniel (60 pounds, looked like miniature Rotty with spaniel face and ears, adorable. Folks thought he was about 2 year old rotty. . .we let them believe it, sweet man, passed at 15. Then, again, no more dogs, just too painful to lose them.

Well, here comes Lady Laura, Italian Greyhound/Jack Russel Terrier (Whippet)! She's our wild child. Rescue (at 6 months old. . .still loves to run and leap like a gazelle, a joy to watch her!) chosen by our Rotty mentioned above about 6 months before he passed.

Guess he knew we would need a pup to hold onto once he passed. So true! Lady Laura is now 4 years old. Great chicken dog!!

Besides that, she is a blond and her being 6 months old at the time of rescue, our Rotty had one last hoorah in him for her. She had plenty of estrogen. We spaded her at 1 year. Made his last days happy just being around her. Hey he was 15, but still knew a good looking female when he saw one. . .

er, sniff, sniff, sniff, I know, gross!

Soo, never got to have my real babies I always thought I would have, at least 6. (Chemo stopped that dream)
But I feel like I got my 2 boys and now have my girl, and They All certainly act like they thought they were human!

Sounds like your pup is real smart and excited about watching over his family and "den" of chickies! It'll will probably make a good chicken dog, since it's still young. . .what's it's name? male/female? Also likes keeping you company too!

Athena, great name, I love that! She sounds like a sweetie.

Interesting tidbit from my observation. . .Rottweillers, Pit Bulls, Roosters, etc. . .it depends on how you raise them, train them, discipline them that makes it an animal that is part of the team or pack, not the lone wolf out for itself! (I realize wolves run in packs too, just a figure of speech).

It's all about time, correction and consistency with rewards as appropriate. Kinda like raising children. . .Hmmmm? IMHO

Sounds like Athena is loving her new "family". Sweet girl!
