I can do without the rain NOW!!!! Just a bit much!

I have 13 in the house in the brooder plastic tote. Next weekend I move them out to the broodershelf in the coop. I just always like to give them a week here in the house, I think I just enjoy having them here, but after about a week, I am ready for them to go out, they get too messy to stay in the tote. Its rainy here today too.

I did not know what I was doing when I got my birds and tried brooding them (36) in my sewing room! For over 2 months!
They got moved out to the shed finally and that was nice! I will never brood any in the house again though! But the way my coop is set up I can section off a bit under the nest boxes and brood in the coop if I have to so the chickens will get used to the babies faster! I hope!

I love my birds but I am not in a hurry to brood any more! I would love for my hens to go broody later and raise me some babies though!

Not raining here so far, just cloudy?

DH and I got the door on the hen half of the chicken coop and wire over the windows and under the eves so the air can still flow thru the coop and help keep it cool! We will be working on the rooster side this weekend.

The door has metal screen and welded wire on it. We will add the same screen to the windows.
Our Brown leghorn rooster checked out the coop but only one hen came in and right back out!
But they will get the hang of it. lol

Happy Monday everyone. Good progress on the coop Chicka! Nice! I have been looking at coop photos all weekend. It is time to build another coop pen and start separating breeds.
Thank you Bama! Ya know I hear everyone working on new pens and coops all the time? I am wondering why. I am building a breeding pen to put my roo and hen into once a week if or when I want fertile eggs. I thought it might be less work than build separate coops for each breed. But I am new so what do ya think?
Good luck on your new coop and pen!
