Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

I was thinking that about that Serama boy!! He was so gorgeous, just like your guy! :love You are correct, he had a different base color; he was brown like either dun or chocolate instead of blue-gray like Lady Gaga looks in your pictures of him. They called him 'Wheaten' on his tag, but like, that's not Wheaten by any stretch of the imagination so they must have just needed a variety to put him under or something.

Also thanks for the explanation on the Shamo! They are right up my alley of weird and cool looking chickens, though the one was so tall I imagine he'd be intimidating to encounter in the chicken yard every day 🤭

Thank you!! :hugs 😭

That's interesting. I'm sure that what Lady Gaga has is a recognized colour here, I've seen it in the Dutch page for registered colours (under serama of course). I'll try to find the link. It's a really pretty marking that I've seen a lot of serama have. No problem for the Shamo. I want to get a pair of Ko Shamo at some point when they get imported into the country. Yes, the large Shamo are definitely intimidating. I've had people be scared of Big Red who's a lot shorter than an O. I think it's the eye coupled with the height that scares most peeps

Is it Cocopop, maybe? I feel like I've seen similar Seramas referred to as Cocopop before, and I think I've read that they're standardized in Europe? 🤔

I don't remember, is Big Red a Shamo? I couldn't decide if I liked the little Ko Shamos more or the bantam Malays. Adorable little birds, the lot of them. But, if it comes in bantam size, I'm almost guaranteed to love it. 🤭

Program is going great so far.

That's good!

I'll go search that up! Here is the link to the page I was talking about: http://www.kippenencyclopedie.nl/php/index.php?title=Serama

Big Red...he's a long story. Given to me as aseel, but could be a mix. Here Shamo are considered aseel-types though

...Yes, that's Dutch. 🤭 I at least can tell that much! I do see a similar bird in the pictures, though! But I don't se a specific color on his label and I have no idea what I'm reading there.

Those silkied Serama, though 😍 :love

Ah, okay. I don't know the first thing about game fowl, honestly. It seems like a lot of people use Aseel and Shamo interchangeably, or like certain birds are interchangeably Aseel / Shamo? But it's well outside my scope of knowledge and hard to find any solid, credible info about in searching. I just recognize they have that gamey type to them. And also they're really cool birds, but of course my tastes in chicken breeds are generally super out there compared to the norm. 😅

Cocopop does seem to match the colour quite a bit! I think we'll just settle for "pretty" as a name for now, and decide the details in the spring when breeding season comes🤣. I totally get the out of the ordinary chicken breed tastes by the way🤭
