This reminds me of one of my hens. She doesn't attack me, but she certainly attacks other hens. I had a failed broody separated last year, she was still in semi broody mode, so she fought to the death, and when I introduced her to the other hens she beat them all, at the same time, but then Miss mayhem rolls around and she attacks her like there's no tomorrow. I don't know how she does it, but she definitely has some unresolved anger issues. Mind you, this was the smallest chick of the bunch, (and my favorite) and suddenly when she matured she bossed around all my four year old ISA browns!

Sounds right

I have a KKxMalay hen I named Wendigo because she was a viscous broody... I uh may be regetting that name as she pushes ten years old

Svart Hona actually, almost all my f4-f6 has svart hona in them. I got a few f1 hona crosses on the property but overall my newest birds all got some in them. Lemme find the poort photo of the rooster I wanna stick her eith

How did you like the Svart Honas? Or did you ever have any pure?

They're on my 'want list'. I've always preferred them to the Cemanis just because they seem sturdier and especially hardier to the cold. Also there were silkied birds popping up here and there out of them, so they hit all the marks on things I'm interested in in a chicken breed. 🤭

When I had them I loved them. They survived the Mississippi weather wel, I got one lone hen on the property still kicking. My only complaint would of been the comb size on the roosters.

Mississippi gets insanely hot summers, when we get the bad winters though we have the cold with that humidity. So frost bite happens, thankfully last round no one really got hit but 100% something to consider when it comes to breeds.

The honas have more of a... rounded shape less gamey than Cemanis. Not slender like a traditional layer though.

That's good to know. We tend to have dryyyy winters, but usually get at least one 'event' every winter where we have rain leading into freezing temps overnight and my boys tend to lose comb tips during those events. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever find any! Woolly Svarts and silkied Ameraucanas are the two breeds (/ varieties?) that I'd decided long ago if I ever see them directly available, I'll find a way to make space for them. Everything else on my 'want list' can wait, but those, I need them. :love

Of course you'd like to breed silkied Svart Hona :lau

Pretty much if it's silkied, I want it. 🤣

:he two of my silkies are boys...

No biggie minus them seemingly in a death match.

Ugh, yeah, for such cute-looking little puffballs they sure can be fierce about fighting! I thankfully have been able to keep my original male, Reuben, and one of his sons, Winter, together and they do a great job watching over my mixed flock, but his other son, Ben, and him would death match any time I tried to put them together. I ended up not keeping Ben because he was just sitting in a cage on his own.
