Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

Had one of my Muscovy drakes end up at the neighbour's yesterday, which is easier to drive to than walk!

My grandson put his dog out and she broke the tether. By the time I noticed, there were NO birds left in the yard, alive or dead. Lots of yanked feathers. Found a bunch of my ducks at the side of the road a little ways up and got them back home. Some were found hiding out in the woods (why don't they quack when you want them to??). Some slowly trickled back home. Took longer for all the chickens to come back. But I was definitely missing that one drake.

Then the neighbour drove over and asked me if I was missing a duck. He brought me to his place, and sure enough, there was Mist. Managed to catch him, with the help of some food, and neighbour drove me back.

When asked WHY he crossed the road, Mist said: "To get away from that monster!"

At least, that's what I imagine he would have said.

That dog needs to be trained. Mine KNOWS that the ducks and chickens are not toys or prey.
:hugs

I hope everyone was unharmed beyond lost feathers! Glad you found your drake, too. :hugs Sounds like he went on quite the flight to get away!

Flight? That big lump probably waddled across the road! :lau

Yeah, they seemed themselves by yesterday evening. Only got one egg out of the chickens, though.
