Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

I used to weigh about 60-70 pounds more than I do now. Food screamed my name, calling me, calling me, especially sweets.

One thing that really helped me lose weight was finding something else to do to get past that minute/10 minutes when all I wanted was chocolate. Go take a shower. Go for a walk. Take a nap, knit, whatever. Knitting was great, as it took both hands, and I couldn't eat while I was going it. I often read while I ate, so that wasn't always the best substitute.

This was long before the internet, or that would have been a good substitute. :)
Thanks! That’s good advice. Food calls my name sometimes especially sweets although that’s not what this particular habit is. But this is good advice for both of them. The trouble with the internet or texting etc. is sometimes it’s late at night and everyone is sleeping. But TV or music work too.

You can beat this, @TheDawg. You don't have to do this habit. Go outside and walk (with or with the dog). Watch TV. Do something else that you like to do.
:hugs :hugs :hugs
Thanks, Sally. I could finish watching the show I was watching I guess or at least start it. I only have 1 more episode left. I could also go wait outside early for my ride. Away from the temptation. Or call my dad. Not to tell him about it but just to chat/distract myself.

You could remove yourself from the situation. Go outside, and maybe call your dad at the same time

Break the cycle. Get away from the temptation.

If I got away from the sweets (I didn't crave starch, except as a "carrier" for sweets, like bread and jam, for example), I could get a grip on my craving. 15-30 minutes away, like a walk around the block, was usually enough to break the cycle right then.

Every time I broke it, I told myself that YES! I had the POWER to get out from this addiction. It was like practicing a physical skill, each rep was another deposit in the bank.

That’s a good idea, thanks! I really should throw away said temptation and waste the couple bucks but I’m not quite there yet
