Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

I'm trying to cope with disaster here.

Friday night we had a big tornado outbreak in my area. Some towns were extensively damaged. MULTIPLE vortexes swept through my little town. Fortunately nobody was hurt and there was no major damage to houses. Some barns were flattened, trees were down and roofs damaged.

But we got torrential rain with the system. The tin got blown off my chicken pens, and nest boxes blew around. Some nest boxes got their tops blown off.

I've been wading through ankle deep mud trying to put things to right. My poor chickens are staying on their roosts and on top of intact nest boxes, trying to avoid the mud the best they can. They are thickly caked with mud, and I'm worried about their health. That's a big stress for them.

I've got all kinds of hatching egg orders that I don't know when I'll be able to fill. Which hurts financially because I have a very low fixed income and I still have to feed the birds.

This is a big set back, and I'm physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted.

So sorry to here about your troubles! Like everyone else, I wish I was closer. From my dealings with you I know you are a good person and hate to see bad things happen to good people like you! Kern

Hi everyone. So I'm reading and reading and reading and I have a q I asked elsewhere but maybe here I'll get the answer. I read rules for the auction saying 6 months with 250 posts or a year with 20, BUT it also said the BYC rules also apply to the thread. So does that mean before I can bid on eggs here that I need 270 posts with 6 mo member status at least before bidding? Holy smokes, I just don't understand how folks do it lol that's a lot of reading and getting involved on here! I have 4 kiddos and the new chickens and not enough hours in the day :) When I have a Q, and there have been many, I try to search it first to find the answer so I'm not bogging down the site with the same ol question. 270 seems like a ton of socializing on here haha. I understand it helps to weed out the fakes but I feel like I'm many springs away from placing a bid haha

We have to follow BYCs rules first. The other rules on my thread are the mins required to participate. So it is not 20 posts added to the requirements.

For the New Crazy 24 hour Auction you just need to have 20 posts.

DMRippy has different requirements on her BIN thread.

For both threads the basic BYC rules are a minimum, and the thread starter can add their own additional requirements as they wish.

Hope that helps :)

Hang in there. It will get better and you have lots of moral support here.

As long as the birds can keep dry, and have drinkable water they should be Ok if otherwise healthy.

Wooden pallets on the ground is a great idea.

Very sorry to hear you are going through all that, Cathy... wish we were closer to be able to help too... good luck and hope things get better quick for you... :hugs

It does! Thank you :) I'll do my best to make sure I look for additional rules for each thread :)

Okie doke! So at the very minimum to be on the thread you created I will need 6 months on BYC AND 250 posts rt? Haha I'll be back on in 6 months then haha

I highly recommend both the New Crazy 24 hr Auction thread and the Just In Time Hatching egg BIN and Auction thread... Phage and DMRippy are awesome and run quality BST threads... you may have a longer wait to be able to participate on DMRippy's thread, but it is worth it! They have those rules to help protect the sellers, and all the sellers I have seen and/or had transactions with on there have all been top notch!
Just get to know people and interact while you are waiting, you'll make some great friends! Good luck and hope to see you around! :)

Wow!!! Look at you with almost 2000 posts hahaha!! I'll get there eventually! And even though my family is new to all this, we'd still appreciate quality eggs that we can enjoy hatching and raising them to be healthy birds! So yes these two threads will def be worth the wait! :)
