Where are they from?

Cock is TM lines from cjwaldon, pictured hen and one other I have are also TM line from Randy2010 on here, who I believe originally got them straight from Tonie Marie. I also have not laying yet two GFF pullets and one GFF/TM cross pullet.

Eggs may already be spoken for though by someone local to me.

And whoops, I didn't watermark those pictures, so I'm going to edit them out of my post. Someone has been stealing pictures of this breed to sell eggs on eBay and I don't want that to happen to these pictures.

I'm moving my post over here because I thought I was in the chat thread and I wasn't.

I've been saving my funny quail eggs. The four across the top are normal eggs.

That bottom one on the left is at least twice normal size. Ouch.

Haha! I keep all my egg farts from all the birds! I hope to get a few from the quail... if they make it through the post and through incubation okay. Um. I have the worst luck with quail, if you are wondering.

I've had quail several times and they always did good for me. The very first time I had quail (late 70's), I ordered eggs from GQF. (They still sell eggs, BTW). That was the first shipped eggs I ever got. I set them in my first Hovabator and they hatched really good. In a few months time they had multiplied outrageously. I was eating the eggs and the quail, and selling eggs and live quail. I was getting BURIED in quail.

The 6 hens I have now are only about 3 1/2 months old, I think, and I already have over 50 chicks of various ages and I set more eggs today.

Coturnix are great! They multiply much faster than bunnies and guppies, and they're eating size when they're just a few weeks old.

My quail misfortunes started 2yrs ago. First round, I was going tbuy quail locally but my friend wanted them for her and her son, so I backed off. She was going to let me have eggs when they started laying and were fertile. That winter all but one hen died because of the cold. So, no quail for me. Last year I bought eggs off eBays - cheap! It was 72 eggs. When they got here, I knew it was going to be bad. The woman put them in plastic quail egg cartons and put them in one of the large, flat (2/3" x 8/9" x 12/13") flat-rate box. They were flopping around all over in there with no padding at all. All but 11 were broke/cracked. I set them. 7 hatched. They had leg and beak issues or just failed to survive. I had 2 left. My daughter let their cage door open and they got out. More than likely they became cat food. This year, just last month, I won one of Orumpoultry's auctions for 24 eggs. The lovely USPS workers beat the box up - it was all dented and smooshed. I had 1 broke egg and 1 cracked, but none developed. Orumpoultry's a doll and sending me more to try out.

So yes. My misadventures with quail. I want to pickle their eggs and eat the extra roos. For some reason, someone doe not want me to have these things I desire!

Even with all the heartache and extra attention, I don't think I could go without quail. I used to have a trio that lived in my apartment in down town Houston. THAT was fun.

I'm hoping this batch brings you better luck. If not a flood
