Do you have a link? I'll pop in Edit, found it! Male first. It's always been that way in chickens as far as I've known. The OP even said they were getting their info from working with plants, which is very different from working with chickens. I'm pretty sure that's how everyone else in here lists their eggs and chicks, too.
