Cheap homemade chicken nipple waterer

A couple a question on this. One is what's the chance one of the nipples could not work properly, get stuck and empty the five gallon bucket on the spot? The other is if a rain barrel is used to catch water, is this water good to use to fill the chickens bucket? Morgan, my dog, will wait most times to drink till he goes outside and finds water he thinks is rain water. Sometime it is but most times he drinks from a container we put outside and fill with the hose for him. If rainwater is good for him, or doesn't seem to hurt him, is it ok for chickens?

I like the idea of nipple waterers. I don't see how they would work, but they do so it don't matter what I think.

Thanks!!!!!!

I didn't want to order the 10set one and I'm glad you posted this!

You're very welcome! Oh, and shipping is free on those, too. Makes it all cheap enough that even I can afford them.

Holy Cow!! I just tried to order some from FarmTek and the shipping for 5 nipple waterers was $9.05!!!!

The nipples only cost $11. What the hay? I don't think I'll be giving them my business if they can't ship 5 extremely lightweight items for an appropriate shipping fee. This is ridiculous!

Shipping and Handling are one of the major sources of revenue for FarmTek. Or at least that is what Barry (one of the owners) told me over cocktaios once.

There are lots of places that sell over the internet by mail whose main income are from overcharging for shipping. When I worked for the post office I talked to many a mailer who sold things like T shirts over the internet and they charged basically cost for the shirt but charged twice what mailing really cost for shipping and made good money that way.
