Cheap siding?

Check metal roofing/siding manufacturers in the area. We have one closeby that sells bent and dent sheets for 1' liner foot for 3' of coverage. Can go right over osb or rough framing. I am in a similar situation where I framed the coop and couldn't decide on siding so I finished the exterior with osb until I could decide.

I did not know you could just prime and paint OSB!! That may save me a ton of work!

Technically OSB is meant to be covered with something solid, like siding. But it should last a while with just primer and paint if you don't live in TOO wet a climate. I'd use a good quality exterior paint.

That is what I thought... I am not too worried about rain but the snow might be an issue... perhaps I will stick with my original plans to side it...

I like the idea of siding it with OSB while I hunt for other free siding materials. I'm thinking the OSB would be fine at least until spring with a couple of coats of paint (maybe from the mistint area?) while I stockpile whatever kind of siding I end up using in my spare stall in the barn

I sided my coop with just OSB and primer and paint. It should work good.
I built my deer blind the same way, with osb and paint, and it has lasted 7 years now with no sign of rot, or wear, or absorption.

The paint wasn't cheap, but cheaper than siding.

Yea, I'm usually buried in snow from December til March. Had 4ft drifts for a while here last year. I'd say we averaged 10" of snow on the ground throughout the season.
