I know this will sound a bit daft ........but how tall is it?
I am thinking I might want one for inside my coop but it will be

only thing i might change on it is the wire for the bottom. as the coat hangers are flimsy i might try looking for some stronger wire. i havent filled it up with feed all the way yet so dont know how the coat hangers will hold the pan is bigger than most use but i figured its wider and they can get at the feed better. i have it up off the floor so they cant flick the food out. i might try a smaller version as well with a 2 gallon pail. that will be next week.

I have made these for both water and feed but cut holes of different size depending on what was in it. for water you only want small holes about an inch up and for feed, larger holes nearer the bottom. they work great and don't need filling to often . the biggest problem is chicks sitting on top and dropping in the feed or water. Might try putting cans on top to discourage this. Just asked DH he said the water hole was 1/8in about 1in up make sure the top is on tight. the feed holes( can use 2 to 4 ) need to be 2in or so near the bottom of large pails.we got them from TSC empty cat litter pails work well also
