WOW, I had that once from one of my girls. She laid a double yolker that was good size them the next day she laid one like yours. It was about 3 inches. It was only a double yolker but is mamothed the double yolker she laid the day before. She hasn't done it since. I think she had enough showing off.

People do try and every once in awhile someone is lucky enough to get one to hatch. Right now, I can't try it. My broody has eggs due to hatch on Sat. underneath her and my incubator is full of eggs on day 9.

My grandmother still love to talk about her favorite chicken that she had when my mother was growing up. It followed her everywhere, in the house and everything like a little dog. It was a bantam that lived a very very long time -- over 15 years -- and it layed a double yolker every day. She says at 12 years it almost died, it was looking very droopy and sad for three days, moaning, etc... And she said, "well, this will either cure you or kill you" and proceeded to pour a shot of whisky down the pour girl's throat! The chicken ran around the yard squawking and flapping for about ten minutes, then began pecking at the yard like nothing happened. It was fine after that...

One of our Welsummers lay double yolkers as well, and even when they are single they are huge.

I didn't think either that you could hatch out a double or even less a tripple yolker. You learn something new every day...
