I caught these two working on a mouse carcass:

Lol, I saw one of those the other day. I have noticed a terrible stench from the mound of boxes and totes in my carport. Im thinking I have a dead mouse under it all and the beetle was hanging around.

If you see one usually means there is a carcass in need of natural processing. These uniquely beautiful beetles do a good job.
They blend in well with their environment.

Why gross? I have about a hundred of these in a tank in my basement at al ltimes. My preffered choice for doing Europeon mounts on skulls for family and friends during hunting season. They do a better job and it's alot easier then trying to pick a skull clean with a knife and other gadgets.

I don't think they are gross but per forum rules I felt obligated to warn those to may be offended. These beetles are very efficient. The mouse carcass was recycled in three days.

Very cool bugs! I see all kinds sold to collectors and schools. I was going to get hissng cockroaches once but dh said no way!
