feeding reptiles wild rats can make them ill, many reptile owners won't even feed the ones that get out to their reptiles because a $2 rat is not worth killing their pet. Besides that would mean you have to risk getting bit, rat bites aren't fun but to have a wild one bite would be worse. One of my feeders bit my hand and it swelled horrible and needed antibiotics( i have bred them for 4 years and this was the first), I don't breed them now as I buy frozen.

I bought a repeating mouse trap for my shed. With winter coming we always get families of field mice in there. Well, since placing the mouse trap in there I've caught two mice. Very happy with it.

I like the repeating traps. As you can see, you can catch quite a lot of rats with them. Those appear to be roof rats, not Norways or babies.

A good way to euthanize the lot humanely is to go to a paintball store and get a C02 canister and some hosing. They are inexpensive and quick.

Put the entire trap/cage in a heavy gauge plastic bag, put the hose in the bag, grip the bag around the opening to hold it closed. Keep the canister upright.

Turn on the gas, release some air to be replaced with the CO2, and then fill the bag up like a balloon at a rate of 20% of the chamber volume per minute for 5 minutes.

They should fall asleep around 3 minutes, and be dead within 5-7. Make sure they are DEAD, because they will wake up if they aren't.

This is good for disposing of small pests like rats, mice, starlings, and house sparrows humanely and safely.

This is also a very good way to humanely euthanize pet chickens that are sick or injured beyond hope.

I don't think they are, I breed and raise rats and they get along just fine with the chickens all raised in the same room..

but I do understand that if they were wild and killing my chickens I wouldn't think twice of killing them, but as far as my pet rats go who I breed and sell off as pets..they are super sweet and definitely NOT nasty!

buy a block of dry ice.. take a tub put a grate on the bottom, put a bowl under the grate with the dry ice. add what ever animal needs to be humanly put down.. add water to the bowl..close the lid.. what about 6 mins.. and what ever is in there will be dead..

of course take into account the size of the tub, and the animal.. longer for bigger animals and the size of the tub.. usually the smaller the better.. but big enough so the animal can fall asleep comfortable.
